General Rental Terms and Conditions
Il noleggio dei veicoli da parte di Ciao Rent Car S.R.L., o da parte dei propri Affiliati o Concessionari (di seguito "Locatore"), è disciplinato dalle presenti condizioni generali, dalla lettera di noleggio, dal tariffario e dall'informativa sulla privacy.
Article 1 — Vehicle Driving and Rental Eligibility
- The driver and customer must provide a valid driving licence and identity document.
- Minimum age: 18 years old.
- The driving licence must have been held for at least 12 months.
- Supplemento "Guida Giovani" per conducenti under 25.
- Maximum two additional authorised drivers.
- A credit card is required for the rental.
- Compliance with winter tyre and snow chain regulations is mandatory during the required periods.
Article 2 — Payment Methods and Terms
- Payment can be made by credit card or cash (in specific cases).
- For rentals under 30 days: payment upon return.
- For rentals over 30 days: payment every thirty days.
Article 3 — Third-Party Liability Insurance (R.C.A.)
- All vehicles are covered by third-party liability insurance.
- The maximum coverage is indicated in the rate card.
- In the event of an accident, the CAI form must be completed within 24 hours and sent to the Lessor.
Article 4 — Fuel
The customer must return the vehicle with the same fuel level as at the time of collection. Otherwise, the Lessor will charge for the refuelling service and the increased fuel cost.
Article 5 — One-Way Service (VAL)
The VAL service allows the return of the vehicle at a location different from the collection point, by prior agreement with the Lessor.
Article 6 — Vehicle Circulation and Conditions of Use
The customer is required to keep and use the vehicle with the utmost care. The following is prohibited:
- Transporting persons or goods for payment (excluding commercial vans)
- Sub-letting the vehicle or entrusting it to an unauthorised driver
- Transporting animals or substances that may damage the vehicle
- Making repairs without the Lessor's written consent
- Using the vehicle for competitions, on unpaved roads, as a driving school vehicle, or for towing
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- Driving in unauthorised countries
Any breakdown must be immediately reported to the Lessor and all safety devices must be used.
Article 7 — Vehicle Collection and Return
- The customer takes possession of the vehicle by signing the rental agreement.
- The vehicle must be returned in the same condition (except normal wear and tear).
- 59-minute grace period for each rental day (24 hours). Beyond this limit, a full day is charged.
- In case of non-return, the standard daily rate is charged.
- Joint inspection of the vehicle condition is mandatory upon return.
- Documents and keys must be returned at the time of return.
- Any complaints must be submitted within 10 business days of return.
Article 8 — Customer Liability
- The customer is liable for all damage to the vehicle.
- The customer is liable for fines, tolls, parking fees, and traffic violations.
- The customer must prove that the damage was not attributable to them.
Article 9 — Liability for Theft, Fire, and Damage
The customer is liable in case of total or partial theft of the vehicle. Liability is total in the following cases:
- Breach of contractual terms
- Illegal use of the vehicle
- Breach of Art. 6 (conditions of use)
- Vehicle damaged without documentation
- Failure to report theft to the competent authorities
In other cases, the customer participates in the damage through the excess. Additional excess reduction services can reduce or eliminate the excess, excluding damage to roof, undercarriage, tyres, and natural disaster damage.

Article 10 — Lessor's Liability
- The Lessor's liability is determined according to civil law criteria.
- The Lessor is not liable for damage to the customer's professional activities.
- The Lessor is not liable in cases of force majeure.
Article 11 — Charges
The rental fee is determined by: vehicle type, duration, mileage, applied rate, liability limitation agreements, and specific customer requests.
- The customer is responsible for the recovery of a non-returned vehicle.
- The customer must reimburse any fines for violations committed during the rental.
- The customer authorises credit card charges for all amounts due.
Article 12 — Miscellaneous Costs
- Expense reimbursement is only permitted if previously communicated and authorised in writing by the Lessor.
- Vehicle replacement service: at no charge to the customer (with exceptions).
- 24/7 roadside assistance included, excluding: fuel freezing, wrong fuel, flat battery, puncture, and lost keys.
Article 13 — Accessories and Additional Services
- Accessories are available according to the current rate card.
- An out-of-hours supplement applies for services outside business hours.
- An off-site delivery/collection supplement applies (doubled if outside business hours).
- Additional roadside assistance can be purchased if not included in the rate.
Articles 14-18 — Final Clauses
Art. 14 — Termination Clause
Breach of Articles 1, 2, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 11 entitles the immediate termination of the contract and compensation for damages.
Art. 15 — Jurisdiction
This contract is governed by Italian law. The competent court is that of the Lessor's registered office or residence.
Art. 16 — Translation
In case of discrepancy between translated versions, the Italian version shall prevail.
Art. 17 — Interpretation
If any provision of this contract is deemed invalid, the remaining provisions shall remain valid and enforceable.
Art. 18 — Domicile
The customer elects domicile at the address indicated in the rental agreement.
